Hans: In Das Haus
"ENOUGH COSTUME CHANGES TO PUT EVEN KYLIE TO SHAME"
Words: Alicia Norton
With a flourish of feathers and a smattering of sequins, Hans hit the stage to rapturous applause and dancing in the aisles. The b*tch with bling is back at the 2015 Adelaide Fringe, bringing another fantastic comedic cabaret show to the crowds, this time with some sneaky rap tunes to boot!
Taking to the stage with his band the Ungrateful Bastards, Hans rips through some of the most popular hip hop tunes from the last 20 or so years, eventually being joined by backup dancers The Lucky Bitches. Entertaining and engaging from the word go, this show was a raucous hour full of great tunes and booty dropping fun!
Although it often felt like you were watching Hans (the talented Matt Gilbertson) indulge in his own personal and public display of karaoke sing along fun, it certainly isn’t dull – and he’s probably got a better voice than most of the shady characters at La Sing on any given Friday.
If you’re an attractive young lad, try not to make eye contact if you’re not keen to be pulled up on stage – otherwise you could find yourself in the dance off to end all dance offs. Expect some light hearted audience participation and if you’re anything like me, you’ll also find yourself compelled to sing along. Don’t hold back – inhibitions are overrated and who ever had fun by being dull?!
There are special guest appearances, enough costume changes to put even Kylie to shame and loads of laughs. You’ll be off your seat and dancing in no time – just make sure you get in early for the best seats in the packed out 'Haus' – lest you be left craning your neck to see the glamest b*tches in town.
